Hi Chris,
thanks for adding me to your blogroll.
As for tutorials — I checked the one on Wordpress, it is good for newbies, and there are still many newbies.
What would help me (or like me I would guess) is a tutorial about certain features — like how to embed a video so that it is played within my blog vs. sends the reader off somewhere else to watch it.
Natasha, I think that is important and I want to add the advanced features as well. I also want to teach how to install Movable Type and WordPress and how to set them up on your own server.
On that note, the only real way to do inline embedded videos on WordPress is to avoid using the Rich Text Editor.
If you go to Dashboard (admin) > Users > Your Profile > Personal Options (scroll down), then uncheck the “Use the visual rich editor when writing.”
After you post the YouTube, Revver, or Google Video embed code, then you can come back there and check it back again.
What I do is have two authors — one that has its “Use the visual rich editor when writing” checked and one that doesn’t — one has a login of “chris” and one with a login of “chrisa” and then come in as the author with or without “Use the visual rich editor when writing” checked.
Does that make sense?
Cheers,
Chris
